Reflexology
Reflexology is a holistic, relaxing treatment which improves wellbeing, relieves stress and can improve a wide range of ailments. Reflexology involves the practice of massaging or applying pressure to parts of the feet, and sometimes the hands, with the goal of encouraging a beneficial effect on other parts of the body, or to improve general health.
The technique of applying gentle pressure to the reflexes of the feet and hands in order to bring about a state of deep relaxation, stimulating the body’s own healing process and helping the body to return to a state of balance and well being. Reflexology stimulates circulation, eliminates toxins and unblocks energy channels.
Reflexology is effective for:
- Back Pain
- Migraine
- Infertility
- Arthritis
- Sleep disorders
- Hormonal imbalances
- Digestive disorders
- Stress-related conditions
The soles of the feet mirror the body and by working on the reflexes of the feet, ‘Reflex Zone Therapy’ stimulates the body’s own potential to heal itself both physically and emotionally. It dates back to the Ancient Egyptians and is similar to Reflexology in so much as all the organs, bones and systems of the body are stimulated during a treatment. A scientific explanation is that the pressure may send signals that balance the nervous system or release chemicals such as endorphins that reduce pain and stress. This is a wonderfully relaxing treatment and starts with a foot massage to relax the feet, followed by acupressure to the soles and tops of the feet which stimulates the reflected systems and organs of the body. Reflexology treatment benefits the receiver on several levels – physical, mental and spiritual. The treatment is rounded off with a relaxing foot massage which leaves you feeling refreshed and ‘walking on air’.
